Mill dust encompasses all dusts generated in a grain mill during intake, cleaning and milling of grain into flour. It consists of coarse grain dust and fine flour dust, irritates the respiratory tract and forms an explosive atmosphere when dispersed as a cloud. Grain flour dust is classified as a respiratory sensitiser, and the respirable dust fraction is subject to an occupational exposure limit of 1.25 mg/m³.
