Robust steel construction

Centrifugaal ventilator

These are compact multi-stage centrifugal fans with 3, 5 or 7 impellers on one shaft. They are particularly suitable for air-technical installations where a relatively low air output is required in combination with a high underpressure or overpressure of up to more than 36,000 Pa.

The turbochargers can be used in e.g. central extraction systems, pneumatic transport, liquid aeration, vacuum lift systems, industrial hoovers, dry blowing systems, fluid-bed systems, tube post installations, etc.

These fans are only suitable for clean air, possibly with inlet filter and low inlet temperatures and are frequently used in our industrial hoovers, among others.

It is possible to request this centrifugal fan in an ATEX version.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
00
When is a Kiekens turbo fan suitable for my process?

Turbo fans are especially suited for air-technical applications with a relatively small air volume combined with a high positive or negative pressure. During the baseline assessment, Kiekens maps out the required flow rate, pressure, and system resistance. Based on this, we select the right fan configuration.

00
How does Kiekens select the right turbo fan?

The modular program combines three impeller versions – F, J, and U – with three-, five-, and seven-stage versions. The impeller influences the air output, and the number of stages influences the pressure range. Kiekens selects the fan based on the desired operating point, not only on motor power.

00
For which applications are turbo fans used?

Typical applications include central dust extraction systems, industrial vacuum cleaners, pneumatic transport, liquid aeration, vacuum lifting installations, air knives, dry-blowing systems, and fluid-bed processes. The process's need for pressure, vacuum, and flow rate determines the configuration.

00
How does a multi-stage turbo fan work?

In each stage, a rotating impeller accelerates the air. A guide vane converts part of this speed into pressure increase. This process is repeated per stage, allowing a multi-stage fan to build up higher pressures.

00
Why is oil-free air important for a turbo fan?

The air delivered is completely oil-free. This means oil separators aren't needed, and it's prevented that the airflow from the fan becomes contaminated with oil. This is relevant in processes where clean air and process reliability are important.

00
How energy-efficient is a Kiekens turbo fan?

The fans are designed for a constant airflow and high energy efficiency. However, the greatest energy gain starts with correct selection. A fan running outside the correct operating range can consume unnecessary energy.

00
How much maintenance does a turbo fan require?

Multi-stage centrifugal fans are known for their durability and limited maintenance needs. Periodic inspection and condition monitoring nonetheless remain important. Kiekens looks at, among other things, bearing condition, vibrations, and system behaviour.

00
How are noise and vibrations limited?

The impellers are carefully balanced for low-vibration and low-noise operation. The ultimate noise perception is also influenced by speed, installation, and ducting. That's why Kiekens takes the fan into account when engineering the complete installation.

00
Can a turbo fan be integrated into or replace an existing system?

Yes, but first the actual operating point of the system must be determined. During a baseline assessment or technical inspection, Kiekens assesses pressure, flow rate, and system resistance. This prevents a new fan from masking an underlying problem in the ducting.

00
Why does Kiekens supply a turbo fan as part of a complete solution?

Fan, filter, extraction points, and ducting directly influence each other. A good fan selection is therefore a system question. Kiekens designs and balances the air-technical installation as a whole, so the required pressure and airflow are actually available in the right place.
